North Carolina Detention Officer Charged With Engaging in Sex With Male Inmate and Providing Tobacco Products

In response to sheriff officers, a feminine detention officer at a North Carolina jail was fired after being charged with having intercourse with an inmate.

On Tuesday, 47-year-old Karen Payton, a Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Workplace police officer, was fired after a warrant for her arrest was filed.

In response to Sheriff Garry McFadden, Payton allegedly had intercourse with a male inmate and gave him tobacco merchandise whereas he was detained.

“There is no place for this type of conduct or behavior in our detention facilities or agency,” McFadden stated. “We face too many daily challenges here at MCSO to allow such behavior and activity to continue that could compromise the safety and security of our staff and our residents.”

The allegations in opposition to Payton don’t replicate the “professionalism and high standards” anticipated of sheriff’s division staff, Mcfadden stated.

Payton was charged with three felonies for partaking in a intercourse act with an inmate in the lockup and a misdemeanor for offering tobacco to an inmate. As of this morning, her bond was set at $2,000, and she was not listed as being detained.

In response to the Charlotte Observer, Payton, often known as Karen Goldberg, is not less than the sixth member of McFadden’s employees to be fired in the final 5 months, and the second feminine jail officer.

Karen Payton has been accused of having sex with a male inmate and providing tobacco products while he was in custody at the Mecklenburg County Detention Center.
