Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear has declared a state of emergency early this morning after a lethal twister ripped by means of the state leading to not less than 50 fatalities.
In a letter to President Biden, the Governor requested for federal help, citing a “significant loss of life.”
“This has been one of the toughest nights in Kentucky’s history, with multiple counties impacted and a significant loss of life,” Beshear shared in a tweet alongside together with his letter to the President.
“I request that you declare an emergency disaster for the Commonwealth of Kentucky in response to a severe weather system that has produced numerous tornadoes,” Beshear within the letter.
The Governor additionally said that the large quantities of particles within the wake of the deadly twister make it extraordinarily tough for search and rescue efforts.
The Kentucky Nationwide Guard has already been deployed to assist and help the communities impacted by the devastating storm.
