Jonshel Alexander, former Beasts of the Southern Wild child actor, dies at 22

Jonshel Alexander, a one-time child star who appeared reverse Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis in 2012’s Beasts of the Southern Wild, died Saturday throughout a taking pictures in New Orleans. She was 22.

Police confirmed to the Related Press that Alexander and a man were shot inside a automobile this weekend. Alexander was pronounced lifeless at the scene, whereas the man, whose identify was not launched, was in a position to drive himself to the hospital for therapy.

Wallis shared photographs on Instagram of her and Alexander as children making the movie.

“when [we] were filming we were always together and i wish i could go back in time so i can see you again,” the actress, now 18 years outdated, wrote in a tribute. “i love you. you will be missed by so many.”

In an announcement to the AP, the filmmaker mentioned he “incorporated a part into the film that was very much inspired by” Alexander.

The New Orleans Advocate reviews Alexander was the youngest of three kids who, after graduating from highschool, devoted herself to the care of her 1-year-old daughter, De-vynne Robinson, whereas working as a hostess in eating places.

“She brought life to everything,” Alexander’s mom, Shelly, instructed The New Orleans Advocate on Tuesday. “Jonshel was feisty, jazzy, spoiled. It was her way or no way. Jonshel was like, ‘It’s going to be me.'”
