Gabrielle Union has opened up about her first marriage to former soccer participant Chris Howard.

The Being Mary Jane actress appeared on the Armchair Knowledgeable with Dax Shepard podcast on Monday, and the actress admitted that her first marriage was “just dysfunctional from day one.”

She admits she was not devoted in that marriage, and neither was Howard.

“In our first marriage, neither one of us felt like the marriage should get in the way of our dating,” she mentioned.

Union continued, “A part of it was like keeping up with his activities, like, ‘Oh, that’s what you’re doing? You’re going to feel this one,’ and I just felt entitled to it as well. I was paying all the bills, I was working my a– off, and I felt like that’s what comes, the spoils of riches.”

She then attributed infidelity to how her dad broke down issues, “Like my dad before me, whoever has the most gets to do whatever the hell they want is what I thought,” she added. “It was just dysfunctional from day one.”

Union and Howard met at a celebration in 1999 in Florida and wed in 2001. Although the two didn’t separate till 4 years later, in 2005.

The L.A.’s Most interesting actor says they need to have by no means moved out of the courting section and obtained married.

Even the therapist requested how Union and Howard made it previous the courting stage, “And [she said] we should probably look for a way to amicably dissolve… because you have not one thing in common, no morals, no value,” Union mentioned.

Union is now married to ex-NBA participant Dwyane Wade, with whom she shares a 4-year-old daughter, Kaavia. She can be stepmother to Wade’s three kids from earlier relationships.
